• Simon & Garfunkel – The Sound of Silence 1966 live

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
    Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
    Still remains
    Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
    Narrow streets of cobblestone
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
    That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
    Ten thousand people, maybe more
    People talking without speaking
    People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
    And no one dared
    Disturb the sound of silence

“Fools”, said I, “You do not know
    Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you”
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, “The words of the prophets are written
on the subway walls And tenement halls”
And whispered in the sounds of silence

    1. Thought I would listen to this song and see why it was so popular back then. Then after 10 seconds I remembered that that's when all of the liberals started trying inner reflection, even when they wasn't tripping on acid. So what you get is worthless liberals, thinking worthless thoughts and listening to worthless music!

    2. negative people have no place near me,trying to feed their evil fluid to me,i refuse to fall into that trap that i was caught in for so nany years,,,enjoy life be who you are not who you pretend to be…

    3. You can really see their chemistry here. No matter how many times they may shun each other (as is the case now — jeez, guys, you're both almost 75, grow the hell up), they were never better than when they were together.

    4. There were only a few singers or duos or even groups that could speak you through their music and you felt exactly what they were saying.  Simon and Garfunkel are one of the few.  It's an art and pure talent that stands the test of decades.
